No wonder one people would rather drop several hundred bucks on a new rig or a ATI's AVIVO-capable video card. Short of a massive system overhaul, perhaps the most practical way to speed up the conversion is with a hardware encoder. So far, the ones I've seen are targeted at the pros and priced prohibitively. Enter ADS Instant Video To Go, an affordable, hot-pluggable H.264 hardware encoder."

I've actually got one of these sitting on my desk as we speak. Looks great...but that's about all it does. ADS hasn't released Windows Vista drivers for the Instant Video To Go yet, and won't have them until later in the spring. That means I won't be able to write my review for another month or two, as I've switched all of my PCs over to Vista. Hopefully I'll be able to share my results sooner rather than later!

My "draw" to h264 is its very good at handeling HD resolution video at the file sizes we are used to. Since this thing stops at 640x480, it dosn't have much of a draw for me.
