In addition to the direct USB connector, you get a quad-line OLED display, an integrated FM tuner, voice recording capabilities courtesy of the built-in microphone, 1GB of internal memory along with a microSD card slot to further expand your storage space. Shoot, I'd buy two at that price. Wait, it's got an <i>OLED screen</i> and gets 15 hours of playback time? <i>[sounds of chair squeeking, footsteps receding, door slamming, car driving away]</i>

That's what I thought too, but when I tried to sell my wife on one, she immediately pointed out that she couldn't run with it. It's apparently impossible to run with a device on a lanyard. So I'm still stuck having to install iTunes and purchase a shuffle. I wish either iRiver or Sandisk would wake up and put a clip on one of these things or sell an arm band for them.

An option is to go with a SyncWear (http://www.malachiandcompany.com/syncwearintro.htm) shirt. These work way better than with a lanyard. Interestingly enough, I found the original shuffle quite alright to run in, except going downhill, or through bushes/trails, but it was quite light. I don't know how this compares, but it strikes me that with all the extra features it may be quite a bit 'bouncier'.

There might not be an armband yet, but I'm sure there will be - this looks similar in size to the Dell DJ Ditty, and I bought one for my wife.

ah... but does it come in blue, pink, green, and orange? The shuffle now has some new color options that will probably generate some more sales. If I hadn't already gotten a silver one for Xmas, I'd have my eye on the orange one.

But yeah, this looks like a great value for $60.

Neat. But I think this gives you the best of all worlds (http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/articles.php?action=expand,11668).

I know I'm ignorant in this regard (I don't jog, I use an elliptical with a handy cupholder) but couldn't you just put it in your pocket? Most jogging shorts have a pocket to put your housekey in...

Yes, 'cause I was just waitin' for it to come out in green before I bought an iPod. I just wasn't willing to give Apple any of my money and was willing to endure the ridicule of my peers until it came in green.

I was told by two different people at Sandisk on two different occasions that this Sansa player will support microSDHC cards - including their soon to be released 4GB microSD card.
