It's complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor uses the same technology as industry-standard professional cams. Can this miniature marvel compare with cameras costing hundred or thousands of dollars? Does it deserve a place under your holiday tree?"</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/B00040EC3M.01-AOV9MFYO1XQEJ._SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg" /> <br /><br />What will $10 buy you? A digital camera apparently! That said...you'd be better off getting a free camera phone from your cell phone company than wasting your hard earned $10 on this steaming pile of crap. You could always give this to the kids for Christmas, but they might revolt and refuse to eat their peas at Dinner.

Steaming pile of crap might be a bit harsh. I can think of at least one application I would buy something like this for - a Geocache. People often put disposable film cameras in their caches for visitors to take pictures of themselves with. At around the same cost, this could be a neat alternative, but I bet it would be stolen.

while for $10 bucks, you can't fault the quality, chris, I think you may find that aside from being a toy, this wouldn't be a good device even for geo cacheing. That resolution is just way to small. I was clicking on them thinking they were thumbnails.

I'm still searching for a phone with a good quality 2mp'ish camera on it. ^^

We live in a world where 3-year olds are using PCs effectively and 5-year olds can do file management. A cheap disposable $10 keychain toy is not a bad way to get them started on video pics. Its not much worse than the FisherPrice and Disney-branded toy cameras and a lot cheaper...
Kodak is probably missing a marketing opportunity in not providing a $29.95 Brownie Digicam for 7 year olds. ;-)
(Polaroid and AipTek seem to be doing well enough with their cheapies.)
