I'm inclined to agree with Chris in saying that you're better off spending a few extra bucks on a TV from a name that you know or at least seeing the TV in person (and checking the store's return policy) before making your purchase. I bought <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006FXGP/103-3424583-6207837"> this 65 inch HDTV</a> (pictured above) on Amazon nearly 3 years ago for $1,450. Sure it is an Apex, a brand better known for their cheap DVD players, but I have to say it has worked out like a champ. The low price let me jump in on the HDTV bandwagon years earlier than I otherwise would have been able to as well as get a TV that still impresses guests. I'm hoping it will last me long enough to be able to get a similar sized LCD in the future at an affordable price.
