The company will embed ads after a recorded program plays. The graphical ad unit, which TiVo calls a "program placement," appears at the end of a recorded program, on the screen asking viewers if they want to delete the show. It is designed to give advertisers a way to reach TiVo's more than 4.4 million subscribers, many of which fast-forward through commercial breaks. Burger King, General Motors and MasterCard are the first flight of sponsors testing out the ad unit..."TiVo can now help advertisers effectively engage a target demographic audience while substantially countering the impact of fast-forwarding commercials," TiVo CEO Tom Rogers said in a statement."</i><br /><br />I guess it's official now. Well, it's nice to see TiVo looking out for the big guy. Hey TiVo! If this starts a trend and I find ads in my generic cable-company DVR, I'm going to be very mad and I'll let everyone know it's your fault. Just so we're clear here... :)

Its nice to see greed has no intention of slowing down in our society. Its not bad enough they have fees just to manage a monthly tv guide that most PC based PVRs offer a small one time fee for (some come included with the software price), but now because they got a large consumer base, lets milk em for all they are worth and force them into watching ad's thus changing the tivo experience AFTER you have bought the black little box.
