That's a picture taken by Jerry Raia from Smartphone Thoughts (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com). I thought I'd ask if there were any Digital Media Thoughts readers who were really keen on the PS3 and are lining up to get one - or are you planning on picking one up a few months after launch when they are plentiful?

Rabid sounds about right:

eBay prices should be most interesting. Apparently auction prices in Japan are already dropping off significantly:

Depends on how rabid about DMT they are. :D If they are only just rabid, they won't be online to respond to the question. If they are insanely rabid, they will be online reading this thread while they are in line. So far it doesn't look like there are any insanely rabid DMT fans out there.

I was going to wait in line until the lines had already gotten too long by the time I was ready to got at 3pm today. Spend one night in the cold to make a bundle on eBay? Sure. Spend two nights and one day in the cold? Not this time.

No - I don't plan to buy one. My teenage son is waffeling between the WII and the 360 -- but I'm a ludite - I don't have a hidef TV yet so he doesn't see an advantage yet to upgrade from his xbox

Well, I was a HUGE PS2 fanboy ;) .. but went XBOX 360 earlier this year..

The XBOX 360 has a nice headstart on the PS3 and I'm not sure BluRay will take off or not ?

Also, I just a have a std TV set too

Well, considering how the PS3 handles HD resolutions, you might be better off with SD...

I was shocked to hear the thing doesn't scale games; if the game isn't hard-wired to render at your set's resolution, you can't play it at that resolution.

Essentially, it relies on the TV set to do the scaling...
Not as bad as shipping the PS2 with only 4MB of video memory but still not a wise choice.
