Along the way I figured I'd download a movie and a game to see how the new store features work. The purchase experience and the user interface are both horrid. After buying Zuma twice, I had to enable interface features to even find the game in iTunes. I'm someone who looks at software UI every day, how are normal people dealing with this?”

I think the guys here at DMT are doing some “new guy” hazing these days, throwing me to the rabid iPod fans with a story like this. Now before you get the boiling oil, tar, and feathers all warmed up, try to remember I am just the messenger here. I can not fault the guy because he is just relaying his own experience but what I can do is ask if this has happened to you. Is this a one off issue where the problem is between keyboard and chair or does Apple have a little bit of work and explaining to do?

Personally, I cannot speak about iTunes 7 that much yet. I've only installed it on my work PC, and only used to download my Podcasts. But, my experience with iTunes 6 has been pleasant. Everything just works, and I've had no problems purchasing music from the store... what little I've purchased. Mostly I download the free songs to sample new stuff.

iTunes 7 has some underpinning issues but they have nothing to do with the store. I've been using 7 without issue. Since it's release I have pruchased 2 songs and the last 2 shows of "Real time:HBO". I don't know how it could be any simpler. Given his strong reaction and stance you have to wonder if he already had a bias going in. If he wants confusing he should give URGE a try. To each their own.

I haven't had too many problems with iTunes 7. All in all I like many of the added features a lot more than the ones I don't. The management features for the iPod are a welcome addition. I have also experienced the issue with incorrect album art. James, to get rid of the album art select all the songs in the album. Select to get info. A window will pop up asking if you want to modify the information for multiple items. Answer yes. When you do a window will pop up with information on the tracks. You'll see a box with a picture of the album art in it. Next to it an check box. Uncheck the box. Album artwork goes away.

I have iTunes7 also. I am still waiting a new update to upload new songs to my iPod Video 60G. After i have updated to iTunes 7 i can not upload any new content to my ipod. I am dragging and dropping songs to ituns as i always do, it is starting transfer but cuts in the middle without any visible errors :?: and when i check my ipod i see nothing new.
Also new album art thing does not work for me because i can not open an itunes account because i live in Turkey

Seems like someone at Apple needs to do more testing..this is typical of the "you'll do it our way or no way at all" mentality that permeates iTunes.

v7.0.1 was just released. It presumably addresses all v7.0 issues, but of course, it's never that simple. ;)

I'm wondering if the problems are related more to the specific platform version of iTunes. I'm using iTunes 7 on OSX, most of the extreme horror stories I have read about are on Windows boxes. (Not an excuse for Apple)

Perhaps, but I haven't seen a chorus of opinions that match Jake's. The major issue I've heard about with iT7 are the bugs, and certainly several of them, if not more, are fixed in 7.0.1.
