In stores mid-September, the EOS Digital Rebel XTi camera is offered in both sleek brushed silver patina and “pro” matte black finishes. It is available in two kit configurations: with and without Canon’s high quality EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens. The EOS Digital Rebel XTi camera will be available for an estimated selling price $899* with the zoom lens kit, while the body only kit will carry and estimated selling price of $799*. In order to maintain an appropriate pricing structure, the Digital Rebel XT model will carry an adjusted estimated selling price of $799* with the zoom lens kit and $699* for the body only kit."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/XTi_slant_Fdown_B.jpg" /><br /><br />To summarize - 10.1 megapixel images, new dust reduction system (which is totally sweet IMHO), 2.5" LCD display, 9-point autofocus, up to 10 RAW or 27 JPEG images in burst mode, and it ships next month. I really feel that Canon is offering a great value to those prosumers who don't want to invest in the 30D or the 5D and instead want that sub-$1000 camera.

Ya know, my old 300D is still chugging along just fine, and I couldn't be happier with its performance, but Canon just keeps releasing these new toys and it's getting harder and harder to resist upgrading... :?

Same here. It is close to three years and the Rebel 300D is probably the only gadget that I haven't upgraded and I am sure it will help me maintain that claim.

The one thing I like about the new offspring is the dust reduction system. :rock on dude!: Dust is the only problem I have with my 300D. I have had it cleaned a couple of times, but it keeps coming back.
