OK, so this is a bit of a vanity post on my part. Even as a little kid at the dawn of the home video gaming age, I always thought it would be really cool to have my own game room. As I grew older, it always became a project I had in the back of my mind. Well a few years ago, I finally started the project and while not 100% complete, I'm ready to show it off. For those of you wondering why this took a few years, I had to build the room first!

Mrs. Pacman is the pride and joy of the room and there are also two slot machines. I'm hoping to pick up a pinball machine in the next few years. After the break is a close up of the home console setup.

Starting on the top shelf, we have a bunch of board games (these are what we played before we had video games :D ) and the migraine inducing Virtual Boy. Next, Sega Game Gear, Sony PSP, and Game Boys (Original, Pocket, and Advance SP). Next, an Atari 2600, Sears Telegames (Atari 2600 authorize clone), and Sears Telegames (Intellivision authorized clone with the computer and voice synthesis module). Next, PS2, 20" LCD TV, and Stereo. Next, Gamecube, N64, and Dreamcast (my most recent acquisition). Finally, rounding out the bottom shelf are a NES and Sega Genesis.

Final shot of the other end of the room. No, I don't actually play any of those instruments, but I figured having them hanging on the wall might guilt me in to practicing, but then it is so hard when there are so many other fun distractions in the room. Oh well, at least the guitars look cool hanging on the walls!

Enough about my room. Any of you have a really cool gaming setup/game room? Post your pictures and show us what you have got. If you don't have your own web host, you can use something like http://imageshack.us/ to host your pictures.

cabinet(mame + pc) is all you need. ;)

btw I recomend yoxio.com. Less popular so its faster, no bandwidth limits, many view options from thumbnails to inline images.

I am looking at building a mame setup. I plan on doing it in a tabletop arcarde type case. I've got some links at home with pics of what I have in mind, so I'll post them tonight.

That said, there is something aestetically pleasing about playing on the original system (specifically with original controllers) versus using emulation.

This is the cabinet I was looking at getting for setting up a mame system.

Slightly ot:

I don't have a game room, but as I type this I'm consuming "Nintendo Power Mints" out of a can shaped like an original NES controller.

Do they make you grow to twice your size or throw fireballs?

That's quite the gaming collection, sir!

But, uh... where, oh where is the original Xbox and Xbox 360?

In addition to those two, all you'd need are the following to complete your collection:

...the Nintendo DS

...the 8-bit Atari 7800
...the 8-bit Sega Master System
...(you have your 8-bit Nintendo NES)

...(you have your 16-bit Sega Genesis)
...the 16-bit Nintendo SNES

...the 32/64-bit Sony PS1 (or reduced-size 5th Anniversary PS1)
...the 32/64-bit Atari Jaguar
...the 32/64-bit Sega Saturn
...(you have your 32/64-bit Nintendo N64)

...and maybe the reduced-size PS2?

Now that would be one incredible collection of gaming history! Of course, you already have an amazing start.

There are some odd-ball consoles from yesteryear, but these are the ones that matter most.

As for standup arcades, I have a list of the ones I thought were the best of the bunch and thought would be a blast to own... I'll have to find it and share it.

Great collection, though!

I did not experience that sensation. ;)

As an addendum, I did break down this evening and buy a DS Lite. It was just so cute and I was able to get it at 10% off, so I could not resist.
