I was in agony yesterday as I kept checking the Canada Post tracking site to see if there was any new information, but "Out for Delivery" was all it would tell me. I didn't leave my house, and kept the music low to make sure I heard the doorbell. I called Canad Post customer service and they said that because it was a Priority Courier shipment, it would be delivered right to my door before 5PM. So I waited...and waited. At 6PM I had given up, and this morning when I checked the tracking site I saw that it said it was at a local post office for pick-up. What? I called, and sure enough, my local post office had it. An hour later I had it in my hands, but it wasn't until just a few moments ago that the battery was charged up and I was ready to start using it. I figured it was poetic that the last image I took with my Canon Digital Rebel would be of the new camera that's replacing it. And the first photo I'm going to take with the D200 will be of my beautiful wife Ashley, a tradition I started with my Digital Rebel. Problem is, she's not home at the moment, so I'll have to content myself with reading the manual and setting up the camera. Oh the torture...I can hear the siren song...<i>"Test my burst rate! Test my burst rate!"</i>. It's going to be a fun weekend!

Jason,

You'll love the camera, got mine just over a week ago. Did you get any other lenses, accessories with it? I can see the 18-200 in the picture.

Congrats, Jason! I just got good news from my accountant and I'm thinking a D200 is in the works. We'll see.

I've been extremely happy with my D70 for the last year and a half. The glass I've purchased is fantastic (50mm, 60mm micro, 18-70mm, and the 70-200 2.8 VR, all Nikon). My wife owns a communications firm and just started selling my images for client work. Talk about cool!

Let us know your thoughts. Maybe, I'll have some thoughts about the D200 of my own soon!

Everytime a Canon user converts to Nikon, God kills a kitten.

For goodness sakes, Jason, think of the kittens!

Jason, you're in for so much fun! And keep us posted on your experiences. But please, do me one favor: don't fall into the measurabiting trap, comparing the technical issues of your new camera to your old. Just describe how it feels, how you find the transition, and what you find of the image quality. All from *your* subjective view. That's the kind of thoughts that I'd love to hear. I couldn't care less about noise graphs, brick wall shots demonstrating sharpness, etc. I just like to hear about someones opinion.

Camera rocks!

:D

The camera feels so much better than anything else Nikon has on the market, I even prefer it over the D2x. Why, without the grip it is much easier to hold and lighter to carry. It's my choice to add the bulk and weight (which I have done twice in the last week), with the D2x I don't have those options.

Burst rate is nice.

No other lenses yet - I'm waiting on a back-ordered Tokina 12-24mm lens, I should have it within a couple of weeks. I also got an SB-600 flash and spare battery...and that's it, but all that was expensive enough! 8O

Lucky for me I don't like cats!

Lucky for you that I'm not a technically strong enough photographer to critique the camera in the same way that dpreview does. ;-) I'm 90% concerned with the feel of the camera, and the way it changes my photography, and only 10% concerned with the technical aspects. So your wish is granted! ;-) I also won't be publishing a full review of the D200 - other sites have done great reviews - but I'll be publishing short articles about how I'm finding using it, and I may even be posting questions looking for help. ;-)

The photos of girls (http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10127) posts have been split off. Let's keep this thread about the D200 m'kay? ;-)
