The first thing the Dell rep showed me was a new Dell box due out in February called the Renegade. And boy what a sweet box this was. The box is a virtual PC powerhouse with four GeForce 7800 GPUs, an Intel Pentium Extreme Edition that comes overclocked from dell at 4.6GHz, two 10,000 RPM 150 GB Raptor drives and a pretty major power and cooling systems. The Renegade will also in fact be something of a collector's item. Not only will it be Dell's most powerful PC but they are only going to sell 25 of them. Yep, you read that right, 25. Why only 25? Mostly because of the paint job on the case. The paint job on each of the 25 will be done by Mike Lavallee who the Dell rep was quick to point out to me also paints for Jesse James. I had to look Jesse James up online as the only Jesse James I knew was that old outlaw, but it turns out Jesse started something called West Coast Choppers and he's somewhat famous, as is Lavallee as a painter of fire and flames. In any event, I guess Mike paints Jesse's bike."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/dell-renegade.jpg" /><br /><br />That's one gorgeous PC, on par with the likes of <a href="http://www.voodoopc.com">Voodoo</a>. Micheal Dell, if you're reading this, please send me one.

Aside from a sweet looking pc case. How is this anything special then what I can order from pricewatch and have built by next week?

Uh, an overclocked 4.6 Ghz CPU for starters! I'd like to see you try to pull that off.

Uhmm..dell dosnt MAKE any pc components. I guess having a mass amont of intel P4's to test for stability when overclocked gives em an upperhand, but they arn't getting anything I can't get (aside from that..sweet looking case).

Jeff, I really fail to understand what you're trying to do here. I saw a very cool limited edition Dell PC, I posted about it, and now you're trying to prove...what exactly? That it's not special because you could build it yourself? Send me a picture of a PC that you build like this (4.6 Ghz CPU, four video cards) and I'll put it on the front page ok?

Like the specs but the artwork looks ghastly.

byteme, meh, admitedly the front bezil is pretty bad, but I'd take the side panel alone. ;)

Not a flames person I guess. What I should have said was that the design is ghastly. I'm sure the artist does good work.

i wonder who makes the mobo for that thing. must cost a pretty penny if dell custom ordered that part to be made

but ill pass on the case design. just gimme the innards =P

I think it is pretty obvious what they are doing. Sell the 25 custom ones and rake in the publicity. Then make the same basic machine without the custom paint job and sell tons of those. I would bet you will see this same machine available in a tamer case soon.

Aha! I thought that the quad GPU was special. It's an industry first apparently:

The level headed folks at the inquirer had this to offer...

I personally look forward to being able to get my hands on a similarly configured system.

Hehe, "lipstick on a pig." Not quite, but certainly a bit of a waste.
