Version 1.0.1 includes improved white balance adjustment accuracy and performance, image export quality, book and print ordering reliability, auto-stacking performance and custom paper size handling. The update is available as a 11 MB download. Also of interest to anyone investingating Aperture will be Imaging-Resource's excellent 'Aperture Diary' which is a hands-on look at how Aperture fits into a day by day workflow."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/apple_aperture-front.gif" /> <br /><br />It's a minor update, but it appears as though Apple is responding quickly to customers' reliability concerns. I still find it interesting that Apple took the time and effort to develop a competitor to Photoshop. Why not just buy the Photoshop brand and bring it in house? Most of the reviews of Aperture that I've read portray it as a capable product for the masses. Sort of an in-between product with the advanced capabilities of Photoshop Pro, but for users who don't want to take the time to learn how to use all of those advanced features.

I think Apple is getting ready for the day when Adobe walks from the Mac business because it too small to be justified.

At US$499, it's certainly not aimed at the masses! Yet from what I hear, there is no way to determine the RGB colour values of a pixel or an area in Aperture...

One point to correct you on, Aperture was NEVER designed to be an alternative to Photoshop...ever. I do not think that Apple will ever try to fight that behemoth.

Most photo pros (and some amateur dslr users) shoot RAW and since photoshops raw handling component..well...sucks... they (myself included) use programs such as Capture One and Raw Shooter to manage and convert our raw files into Tiffs or Jpegs. If I think the photo needs photoshoping...then in it goes. Aperture is designed to compete with Raw management software, not editing.

Having used aperture myself recently, I have to say that the interface is nice....it certainly has a lot of features that are convinient. However, the reason why I dont like it is the same reason why i think itunes and ipod are horrible products for the control freaks.... it manages things for you to the point where you HAVE to do it its way....thats just not for me.

:) :) happy new years from brazil btw :) :)

ACR hardly sucks. I have no idea what you're on about. Care to elaborate?
