As a pay channel, they already sell their content, so this is really just an expansion of their sales channel for their original series. It will let them expand their market among individuals who know their shows, but might not subscribe since they don't find it cost effective to subscribe for just one show. Of course, there are those individuals that do subscribe for that one show and they might lose those subscribers as they move to this channel.
