MaxxPlayer works as billed most of the time but couldn't perform miracles—your notebook will never shake the floor—and its benefits were more dramatic with some types of source material and sound hardware than with others. Most listeners will appreciate how well it compensates for the limitations of many types of PC sound systems."

I just tried it out on my laptop and I do have to say that it does quite a good job of amplifying sound. There was no crackling at higher volumes. This may just be a function of my laptop's speakers, but it may also be the modulations of this plug-in. Anyways, I recommend it. It would be nice to hear how well it works on other laptops.
