I’m one of those lucky individuals, and I thought that I would build my own dream system for a weekend project. My traditional problem with this has been that, like many analysts, I run multiple monitors. I tend towards overkill here; I run four of them in a two-down and two-up configuration. Since monitors are so inexpensive now, I’m surprised more folks don’t run at least two because it makes certain kinds of work vastly easier."</i><br /><br />Four monitors! Yummy! I run dual monitors at work and honestly don't know how I did without it. It really changes the way you work. Unfortunately, there is no way to get quad monitor support when your primary machine is a laptop.

I should have know as soon as I posted, someone would prove me wrong.

But,

"And if you’re a notebook user, you’ll be stoked to know that the company's SideCar box ($1,299 to $2,299) uses SideCar: Add up to four extra displays to your notebook SideCar for notebooks a PC Card interface with NVIDIA graphics to drive up to four screens, yielding five displays total."

Let's just say as a government employee, that the odds of me getting a purchase like this approved are pretty much nonexistant.

I have to say, since I started contributing to Digital Media Thoughts, I've really come to miss my desktop system. I used to have a dual monitor setup on that system, but switched to a laptop as I was flying 30,000 miles a year and had to take the PC with me. I think one of my first investments in the coming months will be to build a new desktop with a three monitor setup.
