As part of the dawn raid, European Commission officials and national competition authorities in Milan, Italy; Munich, Germany; Madrid, Spain; and Swindon, U.K., descended on several Intel offices, a Commission representative said and an Intel representative confirmed. The officials also visited a number of companies that manufacture or sell computers."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/intel_grandma.gif" /><br /><br />So there really is something to AMD's lawsuit against Intel after all. This should put some fire into the belly of their anti-trust suit as well. I wonder if we'll see similar raids here in the states Federal regulators?

The charges are not about price-fixing, which is about suppliers colluding to keep prices high, but about intel bribing and/or threatening customers to keep them from using AMD chips.

There have been published reports that Apple switching to Intel is about the ultra-low pricing Intel provides to Dell and other Intel-only manufacturers and that Apple is expecting to move its complete product line, Pods and all, to Intel cpus.

Of course, if Intel is prohibited from offering those kind of incentives... 8)

BTW, anybody notice the EU only got interested in defending AMD from Intel after AMD moved Athlon production to Germany?
Maybe the whole thing goes away if Intel moves some Pentium production from Costa Rica or Thailand to France?
