It features an Intel® Pentium® M ULV 733 (1.1GHz), 10.6" WXGA with AveraBrite™, DVD+CD-RW, Hard Drive - 80 GB, 512MB DDR, Wireless LAN 802.11b/g, and USB (2x) 2.0. All this packed into just 10.47" x 7.97" x 1.16" and weighing it at only 3.6 lbs. I've already seen these at CompUSA for $999. I currently own one of their 12 inch models and love it. I stopped using my PPC when I bought the last model because it was just small enough that I could carry it easily in my bag. This new model looks even better.

I'm such a sucker for little laptops....so you like your Avertec? I'm always worried about brand names that I don't recognize. 8O

Love it. Been using it for 6 months with no real problems. The only thing I did not like was that when you closed the screen, there was still a lot of play in it (does that make sense?). I fixed this with a couple of those little rubber things you use as stops on cabinet doors.

I know of two other people who bought them after seeing mine and neither of them have had a problem either.

Like you I was worried about a brand that I have not heard of. But gadget lust won out. Just to be safe, I got mine at Sam's club and got their extended waranty (Sam's club has really inexpensive extended waranties). I am getting one of these new models, the only thing I am really waiting for is for Sam's to stock them so I can get a cheap waranty that will be easily honored if I need it.

What's the battery life like on your 12" model?

Seems about 2-2.5 hours using wireless. I really don't pay much attention to it as I am always near an outlet.

I've heard bad things.

A Circuit City rep (granted, most don't know anything...but this one was a techy...) said that he has heard of a lot of customer support issues as well as longetivity of the screen issues.

Shame, they offer rock bottom prices.

I had one call into tech support when I first bought mine. On a Saturday, a rep picked up within a minute and was able to answer the question. I was impressed.

I too have one of the 12" models (3360 - Pentium M 725, 1.6 GHz, 512MB RAM, 60GB HDD, 8X DVD+/-R DL writer) and I love it! I quit using my Dell since I got this one. It uses all brand-name components... Intel CPU, chipset, graphics, and 802.11g WLAN, IBM/Hitachi HDD, ALPS touchpad, etc. It lasts about 4 hours on a battery.

The only things I wish it had were a higher res screen (it's XGA) and built-in bluetooth. But I do love it!

You've got a newer model with the Pentium M. That probably explains the better battery life.

I have this:

Model: AV3250HS60
# AMD Athlon mobile XP-M 2200+
# 512MB DDR
# 60GB hard drive
# Built-in DVD+/-RW drive
# Built-in 54g wireless LAN (802.11g)
# Brilliant 12.1” XGA TFT LCD
# Microsoft® Windows® XP Home
# High Speed USB 2.0 Ports and PCMCIA/CardBus Slot
# 1" thin
# Only 4.5 lbs.

I heard they had noisy fans ?!! Thats what kept me from buying..

I am eyeing up the Dell 700m or the new HPDAV1000 (?) range with the 14" widescreen, 100GB Drive and LightScribe DVD

The fan on my 3360 hardly ever comes on, and even then it isn't at all distracting.

The screen just seems so small. I thought 12" was small, this other is 10.6? How difficult is it to make things out on the screen?

I have a 10.6" screen laptop in the form of the Fujitsu P5010D:

And the screen is great. Now and then I need to lean in a bit to see something small, but overall I find it very usable. It depends on your eyes though of course...
