Ultimate Ears just announced the super.fi 5Pro, a $ 250 set of in-ear headphones. They look similiar in design to the Shure E3 but the price puts it up against Etymotic's ER4 and Shure's new model, the E4, both going for about $ 250 as well. The 5Pro comes in a well-rounded package (just like the others) including a metallic storage case, cleaning tools, and a selection of tips (foam, silicon). However, all things being equal, the 5Pro seems to be the better value since it features a dual-driver design."

According to the Ultimate Ears' website the price for the Super.fi 5Pro model is around $250 while the 5EB model is yours for around $200. While the "canalphones" look nice and sound (on paper, naturally) like a sweet pair of headphones, I wouldn't be willing to spend money on these in fear of losing them. Plus that I dread the moment when the iPod-spotting thieves learn to identify who's carrying these headphones and decide it is time to surrender your excellent headphones.

Finally, I wonder why Ultimate Ears chose a Finnish domain name as the model name for their headphones, and forgot to register it. ;) (Not that they can easily register a Finnish domain, anyways.)
