Renaming Multiple Pics

Hey everyone,

I know there are programs available to do this, but I can't remember what to get. I basically want to rename mutliple pics in a sequence...

I know there are several programs that may do this better, but here's how I do it.

Using Windows, if you select all of the pictures that you want to rename and then press F2, you can rename one of the pictures. Type in a name that describes the set (Alaska Vacation, Birthday Party, etc.) and then hit enter. It will rename all of the images in the series with the name you gave and the number of the picture. (ie. "Alaska Vacation (1)", "Alaska Vacation (2)")

Incidentally, this also is a good way to put pictures in order. In Windows XP, using thumbnail view, you can drag the pictures around and put them in the order you want. Then, you can use the technique I described above to rename them, and it will rename them in the order you placed them in. Now, if you sort them alphabetically, they will stay in order.

I use the same procedure. it is cheep effective and works. (if you don't mind the (#) at the end. I also at times add the date (that i renamed them )or other informaton on a set of picutres. to help prevent accidentally overwritng of the previous. (if you move from one folder to another where the photos might have the same names. )

Good for resizing pics in a hurry too. Did I mention it's also one heck of an image viewer too?
