In a nutshell, Shure combines exceptional quality headphones with earplugs. We were sent a pair of the E2c model, the lowest end that Shure makes, to try out. The units come in a great, compact carrying case, and were easy to carry along in our laptop bag."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/020605_emily_LD_049_RJ.jpg" /><br /><br />LIVEdigitally really liked these headphones. I didn't see too much about long term comfort since that is usually what makes people avoid ear bud type headphones, anyone else have a similar pair that they can comment on? <br /><br />Oh and there were more pictures of Emily there too... 8)

Nice post James...

I had a pair of Sony MDR-EX71SL Ear Bud Headphones

http://store1.yimg.com/I/minidisco-store_1829_23252838.gif

BUT after a month of use I stopped as they became so uncomfortable after several hours.

I now have a pair of Sennheiser PXC 250 dynamic stereo mini headphones.

I use Koss earbuds. The squishy ear pieces can stay in for hours before becoming uncomfortable. They also do well to block out ambient sounds (I can even mow my lawn while listening to audio books).

8O "Price: $499.99 USD" 8O

It is not a question of having the $ . . . it is a question of having too few brain cells.

Man, gadget/electronic porn has gone mainstream! :)

Soon all reviews will have the equivalent "booth babes" or "(car) import model" holding up the product?

You think those are expensive... try these. (http://www.ultimateears.com/UE-10_PRO.htm) The cost of ear impressions (which are required for the UE-10 Pros) will add another $50 onto the price.

I have been using a pair of Shure E2's for a little over a year, and I love them. They sound absolutely amazing!

As for long-term comfort, they can be worn for a very long period of time without irritation or fatigue. The foam insert conforms perfectly to your ear without applying too much outward pressure.

You wish... and, uuuh, me too! :drinking: If you want more "reviews" like this, then you should read the UK magazine PC Format. Their covers suggest that they are a magazine of another sort (if you get my drift).

I love my set - the squishy ends means that they form a snug fit without being uncomfortable on the ears. I wonder if they've changed the formation of the buds?

I have been using a pair of e2c's for about a year now. They include 3 different sizes of rubber earplugs as well a 3 different pair of foam plugs. They are extremely comfortable if you use the foam plugs but I would avoid the rubber plugs. They start to hurt after about 15min. of use.

The 2's are mainstream and meant to replace the junky earphones that ship with most MP3 players out there.

Excellent quality and sound for the price.
Just as an FYI, e2c's are NOT compatible with custom ear molds.
You'll have to step up to the 3 series.

I've owned a pair of Shure E2Cs for a bit over a year and have been extremely happy with them. I also have a decade old pair of Senn HD-580s that I drive with a HeadRoom Supreme amp.

There are a lot of reviews of this model as well as the E3C (and more costly ones from several manufacturers) on Head-Fi http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/index.php.

Opinions differ about the sound reproduced with some favoring the E3Cs over the E2Cs and vica-versa. There are also many who tout Etymolics over Shure. But from my knothole you won't do better in sound or comfort unless your source equipment is all high end.

Bottom line is that you really can't go wrong with a pair of E2cs.
