Both are 256 MB flash players with compatibility for MP3, Audible, and Microsoft’s new PlaysForSure program. Aimed at the active lifestylist, the RD2212 is a splash-proof/sweat-proof MP3 player that’s about the size of the Rio Carbon and that comes with all sorts of extras for the Ironman/Ironwoman/Ironperson inside of you like a 50-hour battery, a built-in stopwatch, FM tuner/recorder, calorie counter, and heart rate monitor."

I think there is a market for flashed based digital music players that are able to handle a "rough workout". I just can't see running with an iPod strapped to my arm with the fear that either I or it will fall and break, let alone get rained upon.

That could soon be changing as the scuttlebutt is that Apple will be releasing 2 flash based mini-iPods at the upcoming MacWorld. Said to be offered in 1GB or 2GB and retailing for less then $200.
