This model features a 1.5" color display and a 5GB internal hard drive. Sounds good, right? Well not quite. According to engadget, this device will be priced at $270, which is even more expensive than the iPod mini.

For a color screen, photo capability, and an extra Gb I don't think $20 more than a mini is too much to ask. I thought it was odd when engadget compared the two, they aren't really in the same class. That said, the mini is still probably the better value in my opinion.

Sounds great to me! $20 more for a full GB more plus the color screen?

Imagine if the iPod 40GB photo was only $20 more than the 40GB 4G one.. it's not, it's like $100 more.

I still think the Zen Micro is nicer. You just don't get the colour screen, but it's cheaper than the Mini now.

Agreed! Right now the Zen Micro is the only digital audio player outside the Apple camp that I find myself lusting for. It's a well designed little bird, even available in color palettes. :)

1- $270 would be the list price; RCA products are routinely discounted 25% or more...

2- RCA is a front for Thomson, out of France, so $270 is 200 euros. What is the mini-pod going for round those parts? Normal pricing patterns suggest $250 euros, no?
