Help!! Apparently I messed up with a SD memory card  and I hope someone can help. Here is what I did:
The SD card in my digital camera (hp 812) filled up during an event so out of desperation I removed the SD card from my pocket pc and used it in the camera to get me through the event. It worked fine when I loaded it back into my pocket pc and I was able to view the pics but the rest of my data that was on the card disappeared. When I viewed the contents of the card in file explorer it showed a series of unknown file folders that make no sense along with one folder that had the pictures in it. I removed the SD card from the PPC and put it in a card reader and all of my data showed up however the names had been altered so the names did not exceed 8 characters. Also, all of those unknown folders did NOT appear. When I try to delete any file from the card I get a message that says I cannot delete because the disk is write protected and that I must remove the write protection to be able to delete. I confirmed that the lever on the outside of the card is in the unlocked position. My PPC is running PPC2003 SE and it has the Windows Media 10 player.
Any suggestions on how to get the PPC to see the data on the SD card? Also, how can the write protection on the card be removed so I can delete files? What did I do wrong?
Thx!!

Sounds like the camera screwed up the card. Oh dear.

All I can think of is to rescue as much data from the card as possible and reformat the card..

It doesn't sound like you have a desktop memory card reader - get one. For things like this, you need Windows XP to help, not a Pocket PC. ;-)

When connected to Windows XP you should first try to find as many of the pictures as you can. Next, if you can't find them all, you'll want to use some photo recovery software - we have a review of one option that will be published on the front page in about 15 minutes. Lastly, once you've recovered all the photos you can from the card, you should use Windows XP to do a full format of the card, and also a scandisk to make sure the card isn't permanently damaged.

Thanks for your input guys. Jason, I was using a card reader and was able to view all my files. The problem is that when I put that same card in my PPC, only the pictures show up. None of my programs or files show up on my PPC when I use the PPC file explorer. Also when I open a program that accesses data stored on the card (i.e: listpro), the program does not see the files either.
I saved all the data from the card to my laptop and loaded it on to a new SD card and the same thing happened so the issue must be nested on the card. I agree that I need to reformat the card, I just want to make sure I have all the data before I do it.
Any other suggestions are welcome. I am going to hop over to the hp site and post over there, since it is a hp camera, and keep you informed.
Thx again!
