It is close to DVD quality (1,080 x 720). With AV cable connected to your TV and SPDIF cable to the audio system, mPack P800 can easily be used as an entertainment center that replaced your DVD player at home. Also, our mPack supports Digital Theater System (DTS) through its connection of SPDIF cable."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/mpack800pvp.JPG" /> <br /><br />PQI claims that their new Mpack 800 PVP supports "up to 90% of audio/video file format on the market without using any converting software". That sounds really promising. It supports mp3, wav, wma, OGG, AC3, DivX 3.11, 4.0, 5.0, AVI, MPG, MPEG 1/2/4, DAT, XVID and WMV and it comes with two 2,200 mAh batteries for up to 5 hours of video or 10 hours of audio playback, 27,000 Hz earphones and a IrDA remote control. <br /><br />Two batteries only give you 5 hours of video playback? I'd need four batteries on a single flight to the US!!

And it has a Type II CompactFlash slot too!

Why the remote control? Is there any practical purpose at all for a remote control with a PVP?

Maybe for when you have it hooked up to your TV for recording and playback? That sounds useful to me.

"It is close to DVD quality (1,080 x 720)"

DVD's only have a resolution of 720x480 pixels.

This means that they will need to scale the image up, in order to fill the screen completely, causing the picture to look worse than that of a native 720x480 pixels LCD, scaling it to 704 x 480, would perceivably give a better looking image if not slightly squished unless it was cropped.

An image resolution of 1,080 x 720 would suggest to me that it is capable of High-Definition playback of 720p possibly wmvhd, although your not gonna find a lot of content in that resolution, and if you did the files would be quite large.

Just had to chime in on this one.

Especially interesting since the specs say:
Display: 3.5" TFT LCD, full color, 320 x 240 resolution

Of course you can also hook up with A/V out for playback. Not sure what resolution that support.
