Forget iPods, 3G mobile phones and paper light laptops because printers have never been so trendy. The run up to Christmas has seen them splattered all over your television screens, magazine pages and even onto the side of the odd bus or two. Yes, it seems we have finally hit the sweet spot where everyone can afford a digital camera and the race to offer Joe Blogs a cheap and convenient printing solution that Mrs Blogs (or vice versa of course) can wrap up and slip under the Christmas Tree, is on. Everyone from Canon to Sony is crying out for us to dip into our wallets, but the mass market specialists are obviously Epson and hp. A few months ago we tested and loved Epson’s PictureMate and found it to be a great solution for turning your digital photos into tangible prints, so the pressure is on hp to pull something equally good out of the hat."</i><br /><br />I've often thought about getting a mobile printer, specifically for family events where I want to produce prints instantly, but I'm not entirely sure it would be worth the investment. Any owners of mobile printers here? How do you use them?

I guess that I could understand the need for a device like this if you a) attended a lot of family events, b) were the designated photographer - you could, as you say, instantly produce photos for family members on the site, rather than trying to use a web hosting/printing solution at a later date to distribute photos to folks. However, this seems like a very expensive solution to allow you this minor convenience, and from what the review indicates, I can't see professionals using something like this - it wouldn't produce durable or sufficient high quality prints to guarantee repeat business. Let's face it, if you are at a wedding or anniversary celebration, your immediate concern probably isn't focussed on getting photos into your possession - can you imagine people at these events lining up to view the photos taken, and clamoring for prints from a device like this?

Maybe it's just me, but this device seems to answer a question that no one asked......

I have a HP 245 photo printer which was the generation before the 375. I use it all the time at family events. I love being able to go to a family event and leave a set of the event pictures with the person hosting it.

I don't see it replaceing my main photo printer, but it is a nice accesory to my cameras.

Happy Holidays!
