But as many photographers will tell you, the number of pixels is not the be all and end all and to this day I can still produce great postcard-sized prints from my old camera ... Cue the £423 PowerShot G6, the latest camera in the G-series designed to succeed the 5megapixel G5. With a 7.1megapixel 1/1.8-inch CCD lurking behind the shutter together with quite a radical change in design, the G6 has made a large leap from its predecessor, while at the same time retaining many of the key features that made this line of cameras so popular."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/849-twistscreen.gif" /><br /><br />The guys over at TrustedReviews find that Canon has implemented many improvements over the older models after taking user feedback into account, and this has culminated in a much slicker camera in terms of operation.

After quite a bit of research, I finally decided on the G6. I was on the fence about getting the S70 instead. It was $200 cheaper and more compact. But I heard a few complaints about lense quality.

I was replacing my 5-6 year old Kodac DC280. It is a 2 MP camera and still takes decent pictures. My biggest complaint was how slow it took to write to the CF card. I ended up buying a Sandisk Ultra II card and the speed improved a bit, but not enough.

So far. I have been happy with my choice. But there is a little bit of a learning curve.

I have a bit to learn how to take good pictures with the G6....which is why I'm here.

Welcome to the site! :-) Here's a good introductory article on taking pictures:

We have part two coming up soon as well - it's great!

In terms of the technical aspects of your camera, feel free to post in the forums and other G6 owners can help you out. :-)
