This report looks at which households have already connected their computer to a TV or stereo, why, and what applications lead them to do so. Furthermore, it analyzes the demand for media adapter solutions, revealing who wants to buy and what hardware features and applications consumers want. “Within the digital home we see not one but many electronic ecosystems used to support multimedia content – one for audio, one for video and one for imaging,” said John Barrett, director of research. “There is considerable overlap between them of course, but they do not necessarily grow in tandem. For example, some households are ready for advanced audio services but nowhere near ready for a video service.”

Talk about putting the cart before the horse. There needs to be some serious education by most DMA manufacturers if they hope to sell to those households who don't have a home network. A solution has to be developed that the "AOL crowd" can just plug in and use without having to worry about their network settings and then a huge untapped market will be available.
