It wasn’t so long ago that I looked at the VAIO X505 which was without a doubt the slimmest and lightest notebook I’ve ever used, and now I have the VAIO VGN-A117S in front of me, which is one of the largest notebooks I’ve ever used. But with larger dimensions comes the advantage of a large screen, and this machine has the best screen I have ever seen on a notebook."

It's not surprising that they're gushing about the screen - I'm sure it's stunning. I'm still on the prowl for a 17" notebook, and this Sony unit is seriously tempting - it's the only 17" notebook that I've seen that uses a power-friendly Dothan-based P4 processor, giving it a reasonable 2.5 hours of battery life. That's the longest I've yet seen on a 17" monster laptop, so you can tell Sony aimed this at specific scenarios (gaming not being one of them).
