<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.apple.com/displays/' target='_blank'>http://www.apple.com/displays/</a><br /><br /></div>"<i>Apple Computer this week began notifying customers that it will be unable to ship its new 30-inch high-definition display until late October. In an email to some of the display's earliest adopters, the company said that, "due to an unexpected supply delay," it can no longer meet its previously quoted ship dates. Customers are now being told by Apple to expect their orders to ship on or before October 25th. The company is asking customers to confirm whether they would like to continue waiting for their displays or have their order canceled in favor of a prompt refund. Apple also told customer, "If we do not hear from you or we cannot ship your order by the revised date above, we are required by federal law to cancel your order and issue a prompt refund, and we will do so."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/Apple30inHD.jpg" /> <br /><br />Actually this is a good thing. It still gives me time to try and win the <a href="http://www.powerball.com/">Powerball lottery</a>...

Apple slips a shipping date? Get out!

Let's see, it cannot deliver enough G5 PowerMac, Xserve, iPod mini, and now displays.

Sigh....

Well, don't blame APPLE; its not as if the media gives you credit for *shipping* a product; all they care is the announcement and the pretty pictures; actually delivering a working product that doesn't explode is inconsequential next to staging a good dog-n-pony show for NEWSWEEK... :(

Wall Street should have a problem with a company not delivering its products *cough Apple cough* but its stock is still sky high.

It is definitely a bit sad that they can't get this product out. It is odd that they announce the product so much before they can meet any sort of demand.

Here is some spin for you...

What if Apple only planned production for a 2% market, but demand stripped out their supplies much too fast? What if demand is growing and growth of Apple is now going upwards?

All companies plan production accordingly. You wouldn't want them to ramp up production to 1 million units when they only planned to sell 100 thousand would you? Then they would have overstock, a loss in production cost and unused stock.

So is it better to err on the low side, or high side? Anyrate in my day dream where I can afford one, they are also in stock... now if you will excuse me my train to Mojo world is about to leave. :D

Its a freaking 30" HD widescreen LCD. I don't think missing the target on this product would have any affect on Apple stock. Frankly the only product that has any affect on Apple stock in the iPod.
