This is something I've always wanted to do - I'm a record-keeping Type "A" person - but I've never quite got around to doing it. This applications looks like a great way to catalogue your DVD collection - how many of you use software to keep track of your DVDs, and what do you use?

This is just one of numerous tasks I do with Ilium Software's ListPro 4.0 on my PC and PPC.

I have been using Movie Collector for my DVD collection. It will do the internet lookup of various information for each disc and afterwards it has an export to ListPro option so I can have my list in my PDA.

I'm using DVD Profiler currently. My only wish is that it had a PocketPC companion. I just saw on PPCT that there will be a beta in a few weeks!

Yes DVD Profiler is great. I've been using it for some years now. I have a few barcode readers that I use and it makes adding dvd's a snap. I recently put dvd profiler on my mom's laptop along with a bacode scanner and in just a day my mom and dad were able to scan in all 350 of their dvd's. They were really interested in the loan tracking part of the program, makes keeping up with your collection easier.

Yep - I posted about the V2.3 Beta on PPCT. I am a Premium Subscriber to DVD Profiler so I will check out the beta as soon as it comes out and give you an update. Pocket Profiler is supposed to be on the list of new features.

An interim Pocket PC Solution can be found here - http://www.intervocative.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=7055

A few things about DVD Profiler that have not been mentioned:
The ability to upload your collection to the intervocative website (including a backup)
Ability to Enter a DVD in your Collection by putting it in your DVD Drive
Great Wishlist and Loan Tracking
Tons of Detail for each DVD - including easter eggs!
Free-Free-Free !!!

Oh - and here is a sample of the online collections: http://www.intervocative.com/dvdcollection.aspx/JTWise

This is a terrific program, and I'd highly recommend that folks spend the whopping $25.00 to become "lifetime registered subscribers". It's well worth the fee to get a lifetime of updates and full features in the product. It also encourages the developers to keep this product positioned as the best in category.

Their 2.3 update has been much anticipated, and will add significant improvements, as well as new features, including the PPC export file capability.

I've had this now for 18 months, and it's the best $25 I've spent!

I just keep a list in pocket excel on my PPC. I have a seperate column where I put who a disk is lent out to.

I use a Sony DVD jukebox. It holds up to 400 DVDs and/or CDs. It has an on-screen title list, so I can scroll through my collection (including a user-selectable screen shot), and when I find a movie I want to watch, I just press <enter> on the remote and the DVD is loaded automatically. At about $350, it's much more expensive than the solutions described so far, but is has the added advantage of eliminating all the clutter of 400 DVD cases in the living room.

The user interface is less-than-stellar, but it gets the job done.

Looks like an awesome program, I'll check it out when I have a little money to burn. It would be REALLY awesome to have a PPC client, can't wait to see how it turns out.

You can also use a CueCat to read the barcodes. This makes entering in the info a little easier and faster.

You can find modifed USB cuecats on ebay for ~$10 US.
