<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.ehomeupgrade.com/archives/000486.php' target='_blank'>http://www.ehomeupgrade.com/archives/000486.php</a><br /><br /></div><i>"At first glance we thought that Archos had finally come out with their drool-worthy Archos AV500 (PMP with PDA functionality and Wi-Fi). But we find out that the AV400 Series is actually the successor to the AV300 reborn in a new enclosure (same as the future AV500). Even so, Archos has produced a noteworthy Portable Media Player that will keep the competition at bay."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/archos_av400.jpg" /><br /><br />I think we are all still desperately waiting for the AV500 but in the mean time, the AV400 does not disappoint. It is an icon-based navigation system with a 3.5" to 3.8" LCD color screen (320x240 QVGA) and a 20-100GB hard drive. It come with USB 2.0 and a built in CF reader, speaker and microphone. It supports MPEG, AVI, XviD, DivX, MP3, WMA, WAV, JPEG and BMP. The only downside as far as I can see is the weight which is rated at about 10 oz.

So any way to use these as GPS navigation in your car? That would seem to be a great idea, at least to me.

i remember reading about media players, that have USB host functions. in other words, you can connect to the device as you would a computer. do you know if this device is capable?

If you are asking whether this product also serves as a USB hub then I do not believe so.

I second the GPS request. Of course, someone out there might say add in PDA features, add in cell features, etc....
