Back in the days when ATI branded and sold graphics cards itself, Sapphire was the company that actually manufactured the boards. So when ATI moved to a board partner model, Sapphire obviously had a bit of a head start on the competition. It also comes as no surprise that this board is based on the X800 Pro variant of the chipset, rather than the top of the range X800 XT Platinum Edition. The official launch of the latter was a couple of weeks after the Pro, so I’m fully expecting to have to wait a while longer before I see a retail X800 XT Platinum Edition board."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/1725full.jpg" /><br /><br />These next-gen video cards are finally starting to trickle out, and ATI is selling their own cards via their Web site - although when I checked yesterday they were sold out. I've requested a review board from ATI because I'm personally awaiting a card powerful enough to run my twin Dell 20.1" LCDs at 1600 x 1200 in DVI mode (so I need twin DVI ports on the video card) and a card capable of running City of Heroes in 1600 x 1200 to boot. Will the X800 Pro be that card? I'll let you know as soon as ATI sends me one.

Jason, my Matrox Parhelia card has twin DVI ports. I installed it in my video-editing workstation over a month ago and I love it. Dunno about City of Heroes though, this workstation is too visible in my workplace :)

Cool! There are a few dual-DVI card out there today, but with this next generation of video cards coming out, I wanted to get something cutting edge, something that would last me about two generations. I believe the X800 is that card. :-)

Why? BIC!!!!

Dunno about the two generations thing, but I'm running a Radeon 9500 Pro right now, which is doing a terrific job running NASCAR Racing 2003 and Unreal 2004 - driving a 17" LCD at 1280x1024.....even so, I am lusting something fierce over the new X800, and have almost convinced myself that I have to have it. Only problem is that I want to build a new media center/PVR PC for the living room, and run a new GBe network, replace my Wi-Fi 'B' with "G", etc.......did I mention that I'm on the waiting list for an iPaq 6300 at T-mobile?...........

I keep telling my wife that you can't take it with you, so you might as well enjoy it now......it's getting to be a harder sell.......
