The P234 supports a 1,920 by 1,200 high resolution screen (widescreen), has a 500:1 contrast ratio, and includes Sony's ErgoBright technology, a one-touch "luminance control system" that lets users adjust screen brightness without losing contrast or color fidelity. The P234 includes both analog and digital connections, and includes support for arm or wall mounting."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/sonyhires.jpg" /><br /><br />While we were all marveling over Apple's 30" and NEC's Billion Color monitors, Sony quietly announced their 23" SDM-P234. Unfortunately it is not cheap (cheaper than the Apple 30"), but over $600 more expensive than the Apple 23" which appears to have identical specs. Hmm, am I missing something? :?

Not at all. This ties in very nicely with Kent's article (http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=43039) on the overpriced portable music player.

Only Sony has the hubris to think that they can release an inferior product, price it over the competition, and sell thousands

it is well deserved :(

Yeah, that is exactly what I was thinking. I think the only thing different about the Sony is that it has a built in VGA and Digital adapter while I believe Apple bundles the adapter as a separate unit (big whoop). I don't understand why anyone would get a Sony given how good Apple's monitors are. I mean if there was some great new feature that did something "revolutionary" then I would at least understand. Ugh!

I do have to say this monitor looks incredibly good. It would seem to be a better fit on the Linux/Windows user's desktop than an Apple monitor. I'd love to go out and buy one, but that isn't gonna happen unless I win the lottery (and buy a ticket ;)).
