The 500 megapixel Dark Energy Camera would be placed on an existing 4-meter telescope located in north-central Chile at the National Optical Astronomy Observatory's Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory."</i><br /><br />As far as I can tell, the project has not been approved yet and won't be put in place until 2012 even if it is funded. However, it will generate over 100 terabytes of data for the appropriate research, once created. But 500 megapixels? Wow! A real use for the $15K 12GB CF card. :)
