<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.industrialnewsroom.com/fullstory/451559' target='_blank'>http://www.industrialnewsroom.com/fullstory/451559</a><br /><br /></div>"Delkin Devices Inc., maker of premium quality eFilm memory cards and other innovative products, announces a revolutionary new device that connects two USB devices together without a computer. The USB Bridge fits easily in the palm of one’s hand, and enables users to copy files by attaching a digital camera directly to a variety of peripherals such as an iPod (and other MP3 players), USB Flash “Thumb Drives”, external hard drives, CD-R burners and memory card readers. It links your camera to a wide variety of USB mass storage devices without having to remove the memory card. The Bridge works with all the top camera brands including Canon, Fuji, Kodak, Nikon, Olympus and Sony. Delkin designed the Bridge for the traveling photographer who prefers the convenience of leaving their laptop at home but still needs a solution for storing and transferring files on the fly."<br /><br /><img src="http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com/images/451559.jpg" /><br /><br />However, the applications of this bridge are not limited to digital cameras alone. You will be able to transfer files between two USB Flash "Thumb Drives", or from a USB storage device to an iPod and/or other USB MP3 players, or even from one memory card reader to another. I think this is an excellent idea and am actually surprised that it took so long for something like this to be announced. The USB Bridge is available now from Delkin's site for as little as $69.99.

Similarly-named Belkin has had a similar device out for iPods only, but I like that this one works with all sorts of devices. I wonder there would be a way to use it to link a Pocket PC (one of the many that don't support USB-host) to a portable hard-drive like an iPod or my Archos Jukebox...

I wonder if you have to transfer all contents...just from the picture, I don't see how you could transfer only select files. Moreover, I wonder if it moves files, or just copies them. I should try to find the manual...this is a great idea!

Unlike most readers, I answered my questions by reading the info in the link:

"File transfer is accomplished via one-button process that does not erase original files."

"Since the Bridge copies the entire contents of the input device, the output device must have enough free space available to accept all files located on the source device."

But I am still very curious how a USB CD burner would work with this. Very impressive.

Sounds like a really cool idea, something like this could change the way thumb drives are used completely. Just imagine, .. a world in which everybody has a thumb drive hanging off their keychain and whenever you need to pass on your info you just hook it up to that USB bridge!!!!

I think I am going to get one - would definitely solve many of my problems when on the go.

Very nice indeed. I wonder how small it is. The press release talks about 2 AA batteries, so it can't be *that* small. Still, very tempting.....

Is there any chance this will work with my Creative Nomad Zen 2.0 Jukebox?

I wonder how it is able to work with an external CD burner, though.

This is a few days later but I hope to still get some answers/ideas. I ended up buying a tiny little 20GB external hard drive (http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?id=10063) today, but it does not have a power cable, just a USB power sharing cable and a PS2 power sharing cable. Would this drive work with the USB bridge, what do you think? Does anyone here know how much power comes out of a USB port and whether I could in some way hook up batteries to a USB charging cable?!

Soooooo many questions... *sigh*
