PCs can be the heart of your home media network. And if you're a musician or aspiring recording engineer, a PC can (and should) be the core of your home studio setup. In the first installment of this ongoing series, we took you through the design decision processes and showed you how to build two different Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) systems. Today we're here to refine those systems even further, and just as importantly, knock the price of these systems down too. So, if you've been waiting to build yourself a DAW system, your wait is over. Strap yourself in, and take a little trip with us as we show you two recipes for the perfect DAW system..."<br /><br />What's a digital audio workstation you might ask? Let's just say that with $1500 Mackie HR824 studio monitors as one of the components, this is not for the timid... :D

I agree with some of the components but I'd have to disagree with the choice of audio hardware. I'd go with something from RME (www.rme-audio.com)maybe a nice multiface and then a nice mic pre-amp from FMR (http://www.fmraudio.com/rnp/). The Real nice pre-amp and Real nice compressor gets great raves on the pro audio boards and you will really appreciate the sound from it especially when monitored thru some Mackie 824's.

you'd think that for $7200 8O someone would put it all together for you, but I guess not!

Yea that would be nice. I remember looking at these studio monitors that I wanted(no way in H#ll i'd be able to get them) they wer $125K 8O but that at least included shipping and installation :? . For that kind of money they should build my studio around them too 8O
