Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has found a definitive guide to ripping and encoding on Mac OS X? I've used several programs in the past, including DVDibbler, DVDBackup, and others, but most of them have a lot of settings to play with.

I'd really like to rip a DVD and encode it for viewing on a Pocket PC. I've been able to get that far with DVDibbler, but the picture isn't resized correctly. I don't know the correct crop and scale settings...

Thanks for your help! :)

I can't help you with the Mac side of things, but on the Pocket PC, it should be 320 x 240, or perhaps smaller if you're cropping out the black bars on the top and bottom of a widescreen format video.

Check out versiontracker.com for Mac the Ripper...It is hands down the best ripper out ther and version 2 is supposed to come out soon. For encoding I either use Cleaner 6 (which lets you encode to WMV format) or DVD2One X, which is pretty slick as well.
