Do you guys remember that Motorola Q9h review that I have been promising you guys? Well, I did not forget about it and I promise I'm not slacking. This weekend Motorola was kind enough to send me the AT&T version of their newest Windows Mobile Standard device. Seeing as I now have two of these devices, one European model and one US model, I figured the best way to showcase them would not be in a another boring old review, but in a round of no-holds bar bare knocking boxing! Now before I go off and pin these two devices up against each other, I thought it would be nice to snap a quick picture or two and post it up here for our readers.

The neat part about the above images is that they were taken with my original European/Asian Motorola Q9h. The camera is not half bad, huh? It is nice to finally use a Smartphone with a decent camera! Expect my review by weeks end.

Any quick thoughts on the differences between the two?

I'm sure there must be but, for the curious (like me hoping I made the right choice going with the AT&T branded one), what are the differences off the top of your head?

The only major differences as far as I know are:

- Q9h for Europe/Asia does not have aGPS
- Q9h for Europe/Asia has quad band Edge (850/1900 & 900/1800) and 2100 UMTS where as Q9 Global (at&t) also has quad band Edge and dual band UMTS (850/1900)

Other than that, obviously the ROM on the device's is different so it may come with different pre loaded apps and some of the keyboard icons are different looking...

The main difference that I can see from my limited time using both phones are:
Menus are a little different and more streamlined on the Q9h Globa (AT&T)
Included homescreens are different
AT&T version includes TeleNav program for GPS (I haven't touched this yet)
AT&T version includes links to download games, programs, etc. European does not.
QWERTY Keypad keys are "harder" on the AT&T version and not as pleasent and soft as the European version. Still an awesome keyboard though! :D

You're definitely right about the keyboard. I used the Q9h at a store the other day and was surprised at how easy it was to type, compared to my Q. I haven't tried the Q9c or Q9m yet but the keyboard is really quite nice. It didn't feel like the Dash keyboard which was mashed together too close.

Returned my Blackjack II and got the Q9h...
Like night and day all around. Build quality, feel, screen, keyboard, software implememtation, included accessories. Just a better phone. Dare I say...one of the best SP's I have ever owned. (a little wide tho!) :D

It is a little wide, but it feels right when I hold it :)

P.S. - It feels even better with the GPS hack :D

I think you should dare to say it is the best despite what WMExperts say:cool:

That's what I say!

Paul did a good job on the patch...but, by no fault of his, the phone drains the battery at an alarming rate when you enable the com port. GPS must constantly run when that is applied. But he's looking into that too.

That's something that I am writing into my article as an warning for users that will be using the patch. While it is cool, I have had to charge my phone 4 times yesterday as it just drained the battery in no time. Also, it just stopped working for no reason at all around early evening last night.
