Sure, we can get caught up in the headline features like wireless, multimedia, camera, built-in storage and so on, but often the small usability tweaks are the things that make a lasting impression. Here are 10 “undocumented features” (no, not bugs!) that I think every phone should have, and where possible I’ve included the phones that offer it. Naturally my list is limited to the phones that I’ve used, so if you’ve got some features you think should be added to the list - or know other phones that offer the features I’ve listed - please share them in the comments!"

Here we have yet another top 10 of what a phone should have. What's nice about this article is that Gear Diary not only lists what they believe a phone should have, but they also give current phones that actually have some of these features. Some of the top ten I care about and some of them I don't. Which ones do you agree or disagree with? Feel free to tell about a feature you would like to see even if it's not in the top ten list. You can also discuss features that your phone has that you wish it didn't.

The "Phones that offer this feature" list is nowhere near complete.

for me, a phone needs to have a solid messaging platform. That includes a full QWERTY keyboard. I've recently been playing with T9 and I just can't stand it. I need the QWERTY ! :D I do too much messaging to go without it.

IMO a phone needs the option to run 3rd party apps. That way most of these things can be accomplished if you need them.

Most phones nowadays can run J2ME apps, which can have pretty deep control of the phone. I'm using a Samsung m610 now, which I've loaded up with quite a few apps and there's a lot of functionality there.
