Time Zone Auto Clock Set?

I am on the east coast of USA. I fly to west coast. When I turn the phone on, the clock is still set to EDT. Why? The phone knows it is using a cell tower on the west coast, and those towers have their own clocks, so why isn't mine set?

I have a Cingular 212 Windows Mobile WM 5.0.

Because not all Windows Mobile phones will use the cell towers as the authority on time. I don't think the 2120 had this feature. If I recall, it was added after that model. The BlackJack and Q have this enabled by default.

But having the phone trust the cell tower isn't always the best idea. I've been messed up by it a number of times. Enough that I now turn that off as soon as I get a new phone.
