We&rsquo;ve got a new HTC handset for you, and it&rsquo;s called&nbsp;the HTC Iris. Also known as the HTC S640, it has just been cleared for American airwaves by the FCC. The device, which bears more than a passing resemblance, both in specs and appearance, to the upcoming Palm Treo Gandolf (a resemblance that could be more than skin deep, given HTC&rsquo;s manufacturing contract with Palm) isn&rsquo;t the most feature packed phone we&rsquo;ve seen. The handset sports an EV-DO Rev. A CDMA radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS in the connectivity department. A small QWERTY thumboard adorns the front of the candy-bar style phone, with a 2 megapixel camera and 400 MHz processor rounding things out. There&rsquo;s a 2.4&quot; 320 x 240 screen, 256&nbsp;MB ROM/64&nbsp;MB RAM, all running atop Windows Mobile 6 Standard. No word on price or availability, but a Sprint/Verizon appearance is all but assured at some point in the future.&quot;</em></div><div><em></em></div><div><img border="0" alt="" src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/500/spt/auto/1187108894.usr11642.jpg" /></div><div></div><div>Haven't seen much talk about the Iris lately so it's good to see it coming out of it's shell. All of you Sprint/Verizon users should be happy. With a 400mhz processor, WiFi, and EVDO Rev. A, what's not to like? So if you're with a CDMA wireless provider, will this be your next smartphone? Now let's all keep our fingers crossed for a sooner than later price and availability.</div>

This is one dull looking phone. Hopefully it's aimed at the entry level. Otherwise, I predict this will be as popular as that HP flop. :D

This is indeed one boring phone. Surprised that it has one of the most decent processors.
