We’ve got a new HTC handset for you, and it’s called the HTC Iris. Also known as the HTC S640, it has just been cleared for American airwaves by the FCC. The device, which bears more than a passing resemblance, both in specs and appearance, to the upcoming Palm Treo Gandolf (a resemblance that could be more than skin deep, given HTC’s manufacturing contract with Palm) isn’t the most feature packed phone we’ve seen. The handset sports an EV-DO Rev. A CDMA radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS in the connectivity department. A small QWERTY thumboard adorns the front of the candy-bar style phone, with a 2 megapixel camera and 400 MHz processor rounding things out. There’s a 2.4" 320 x 240 screen, 256 MB ROM/64 MB RAM, all running atop Windows Mobile 6 Standard.
