In THIS (http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=256920) MoDaCo thread, I was asked whether there are any networking apps for the MS Smartphone platform. I’ve quickly tested vxUtil (http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?s=vxUtil&sentence=AND) (homepage HERE (http://www.cam.com/vxutil.html)), the BEST all-in-one networking troubleshooter / helper app for Pocket PC and WindowsCE, only to find out it doesn’t have a native Smartphone version.

Fortunately, this can easily be fixed by just extracting 00vxUtil.020 from the vxUtil.ppc3_arm.CAB file, renaming it to vxUtil.exe and transferring it to \Windows\Start Menu (or any subfolder of it) on your Smartphone. Screenshots:

Menneisyys, thanks. I've been missing this app since I switched from my k-jam to my C730. However it's not working properly for me. When i run it the screen doesn't refresh and I just get the previous screen with the vxUtil menu. After I select an item of the "Functions" menu I get that screen but the soft keys no longer work for me and I can only close it down with the task manager.

Any thoughts?

Anyone else have problems with this on a landscape device?

I'm seeing the same thing. I don't think it's a landscape thing. I think it's a PPC vs Smartphone thing. :(

(Sorry for the later answer; for some reason, I didn't receive any notifications.)

This is indeed a problem with the app I couldn't find a solution to either - other than, of course, closing the app from a task manager and restarting it.

Menneisyys, I don't have any PPC devices (surprise, surprise). I was wondering if you installed this to the storage card on the PPC, then removed the card and inserted it into a Smartphone. Browse to the exe and run it - if it will work. It might be having problems because it's missing some of the other files it needs to run. Just a thought.
