<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.theunwired.net/?itemid=3862' target='_blank'>http://www.theunwired.net/?itemid=3862</a><br /><br /></div><i>"Not sure how it is about you but for me, Outlook lacks one important field: private mobile phone numbers. Outlook has many fields for contact details, like Assistant phone number (very useful), Business Fax, Home Fax, Other Fax (three fax number fields? ), Pager (who is using a Pager today), Primary and Radio (what ever it is) and even Telex (though the last Telex was disconnected in the late 80s in the last century) but Outlook 2007 has just one filed for mobile numbers! I'm not going to say that all the previously mentioned fields don't make any sense anymore today but please - why just one Mobile field after Microsoft just recently introduced its new Outlook 2007, Exchange 2007 and Windows Mobile 6? Wouldn't it be the perfect timing to introduce new fields?"</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/paxton-20070523-fields.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />Is Microsoft just copying and pasting their Outlook mobile WM5 template into their Outlook mobile WM6 template and adding a few extra functions to make it look fresh? Sometimes I wonder if Microsoft is real-world thinking about what is really needed for 2007. Here we have an article that feels that the fields in Outlook mobile are outdated and should contain fields that are more revelent for today. What do you think? Does Outlook mobile need an overhaul such as number of fields to fit today's real world contact management functions? What else would you add or subtract?

No, way, come on, it's SUPER important for me to have the ISDN number for my contacts! Also, I need to know how to page them of course!

NOT.

This is completely out-dated and just plain silly.

That missing second (or third) mobile field always irks me.

Some of the fields are almost comical - in a frustrating way :x

If someone has two cell numbers (a private and a business, like me), I just use the Home 2 field. (I guess I could use "Car" as one, also.) It's becoming more and more likely for my contacts to have 2 cell numbers as opposed to two home numbers anyway (actually, I can't think of anyone who does have two home numbers). Would it be nice if it said "Mobile 2" or the like? Sure, but simply adding more fields seems a little over-the-top. I have to scroll through enough "useless" fields on my Q when creating a contact as it is.

I'd be lost without the Telex field for my contacts!

I don't know what I would do if they removed the car phone field. I would be lost without it!

I guess with people having muliple phone numbers, it would be nice to have enough fields to enter them in you're address book.
Just a thought why not have the ability to rename the fields as necessary.
also just for laughs I am going ask this, How many ways do you need to be able to dial phone numbers?
there is at least 5 different ways on my MDA.

That makes me nuts too. Some of the fields in Outlook I can't even find on my Smartphone.

I just wish that I could customize which fields show up for contacts whey they are opened or created. Being able to make a predetermined format for myself would do wonders. 8O
