View Full Version : Looking for a Replacement for the Flimsy Rubber Covers on the BlackJack

I knew it was going to happen. It always seems to happen with these flimsy rubber covers for the charging/sync port on Smartphones. Mine started to break a couple weeks back, but it wasn't until the other day when it gave it up for good. Now it feels weird in my hand and I have this nagging feeling that I'm allowing dust in or something. :?

I usually buy replacement parts from Celluar Nationwide Network (http://www.cnn.cn) but for some reason, they don't have any parts for the BlackJack. I've emailed them a couple times asking if they plan to stock parts for this phone, but I have yet to hear anything back from them. Does anyone else know of a place where I can buy replacement parts for the BlackJack?

Ouch, sorry to hear/see! :?
That's why I use Bluetooth for sync as much as I can and also the (standard) battery I'm only charging externally to open the flips as seldom as possible.

Can you just take it back to your wireless store and ask for a replacement phone? It should still be under warranty. If enough people start returning them, then your carrier will start pressuring Samsung to build a better phone.

According to Cingular, the rubber covers coming off is considered normal wear and not a warranty defect. As such, they won't replace for this issue.

Having said that - the cover for my usb connector came off 4 months ago and I don't miss it one bit. It was a pain to fiddle with every time I needed to charge. The one I'd be more concerned about - the cover to the microsd card - is quite secure, probably because I've opened that compartment maybe 5 times in the nearly 6 months I've had the phone (as opposed to the USB that would get handled daily)

Mine broke after just a few weeks too... I got used to it being gone.

They should make these with some sort of spring loaded metal flap that closes shut once the usb cable is removed.

Sort of like the doors where the doggy walks through and the flap closes behind them.

Guys - Man Up - it's only a little old bitty piece of rubber. You'll be okay unprotected, particularly if you keep the microSD slot covered.

My sync cover was doing pretty well until I started using the Extended Battery. From that point the cover would not open properly and really started to strain the clear plastic thing that holds it in place. Now it is only half way on. I would probably just tear it off if I was not planning on selling it after the WM6 upgrade.

My USB cover fell off long ago too. I don't miss it. The short time I had it, it never stayed in and just dangled.

I did some searching and came upon this site with BlackJack parts.

I did contact Samsung 3-4 months ago regarding the plastic microSD slot cover. At that time, they stated they did not have/supply add'l plastic cover for this device. I guess once we find the supplier, better order extra covers as they are going to fell off sooner or later :D

My Dash USB connector flap is still going strong! Could it be that Dash users don't have to charge their phones as much as BlackJack folks.

Wow! Thanks Danny, your search must have been better than mine. I couldn't find anything. I didn't notice the rubber door covers here, but they got everything else, so I imagine it's coming or just not displayed on the site.v :mrgreen"

Were you able to order from that store?

It seemed to me that it's a store for dealers or repair shops, not individuals.

The price for a whole new casing was quite good. About $30, compared to the $15 I just paid for a screen protector  [/quote]

I think http://www.daydeal.com has some accessories for the Blackjack. I ordered an audio adapter for my Dash as well as a sticky pad for my truck from them. Reasonable prices and usually free shipping.

I lost mine a while ago. I don't really miss it. It was getting to be a pain.

So, does that mean I can expect to see the replacement rubber plugs and parts on RoccStar (http://www.roccstar.com/) sometime soon? ;)
