Sharp To Release High Contrast LCD For Mobile Devices

Since the release of the HTC Tornado/Faraday line of handsets, we have been blessed with nothing but sharp, colorful, shiny and beautiful screens. I remember the day I received my Cingular 2125. My jaw almost hit the floor as I was not expecting the screen to be some vibrant! If Sharp can create a screen that can recapture that astonishment, I'm all for it, but I will not hold my breath waiting for it to come along. :)

I'm not sure what the component is on screens that makes them viewable in sun light, but I do know that none of my Smartphones has had it. My current Blackjack and predecessor SP5m and i600 were great indoors, but almost unusable outside. Perhaps they need more contrast, or maybe more reflective brightness, but there is definitely something that needs tweaking.

Now, the screen on my Garmin 60c GPS device, which I purchased three years ago, that is viewable outside in bright high noon sun. What ever the component is on this screen needs to be adopted in some fashion for Smartphones.
