i was wondering if anybody had any idea about the 3G bands supported by the i600 ( the euro version of the BJ ), pdadb.net claims its 850 & 1900 but is some cases there postings are unreliable.. any idea?

As US/Canada carriers are using the 1900 band for UMTS/HSDPA but i'm more interested in the i600 than the BJ, due to WiFi & the 2nd Camera.

Any Help will be highly appreciated. :)

It will work here, just like the i320 works here. But the reception is crap. I used the i320 for a good couple months and it did the job. But it can't hold a candle to the coverage that the BlackJack pulls in.

The bands on the i600 are focused on Europe. There is a little suport for North American, but it's more of a occasional usage support.

i guess u r talking about the GSM bands, i'm currently using the i320 & its working fine, but i'm more concerned about the 3G bands, Rogers/Fido are supporting the 1900 MHz & only the 1900 MHz, so if the i600 does support the 1900 MHz then 3G will work fine.. so u have any idea if the i600 has 1900 MHz band or not?

I have the i600 but I'm in Germany. The official specs I saw don't mention the supported UMTS bands. On the box it was shipped in they have printed specs in 16 different languages and every version looks different. :) Anyway, it boils down to mashed lines like this one:

UMTS/HSDPA(1.8Mbps)/EDGE/GPRS Class 10 (900/1800/1900/2100 MHz)

But when I invoke the band selection settings in the i600 I can select only:
AUTO
GSM900/1800
GSM1900
WCDMA

So my guess is that it supports only the European/Asian 2100 MHz for WCDMA (UMTS/HSDPA).

What I don't understand is why they left out the 850 MHz GSM. Does the i600 use another radio chipset than the i607?

ya, i guess it does use a different GSM chipset..

This is kinda getting frustrating, i need to make a decision & purchase either the Blackjack or the i600 but cant find anywhere whether the i600 supports the North American 3G "1900 MHz" or not

It's a safe gamble that it doesn't support the North American 3G band. Samsung has always released devices localized to the area. Just like the BlackJack doesn't have the European 3G support, just North American.
