What happens to the original installation of the framework if we install this. I am assuming that it won't overwrite the ROM version, so does that mean that it is now in 2 places...

The original framework on WinMo 5.0 is Version 1.0.

.NET CF v1.0 came pre-installed in the ROM with on WinMo 5.0 devices. So .NET CF 2.0 if you have it installed on your Smartphone, you will find it in the Add Remove Programs. You can remove that and install the .NET CF 2.0 SP2. the version CF 1.0 and CF 2.0 SP2 can co-exist.

BTW, WinMo 6 has .NET CF 2.0 SP1. So even WinMo6 will require this update.
