Windows Mobile 6... the most leaked operating system in the world is still under wraps officially at least... but it looks like those predicting the cat will be let out of the bag at 3GSM could be right! Nestling on the 'MSDN Events and Webcasts' page, you'll find a 14th February session entitled 'MSDN Webcast: MSDN geekSpeak: Windows Mobile 6 with Jim Wilson (Level 200)'. Well, you WERE able to find that... until Microsoft hastily renamed the session. Thanks to the goodness that is the Google cache however, you can see the evidence yourself by clicking this <a href="http://72.14.209.104/search?q=cache:8yBnNgap2hMJ:www.microsoft.com/events/webcasts/upcoming.mspx%3F%26PageNumber%3D2+%22windows+mobile+6%22+site:microsoft.com&hl=en&gl=uk&ct=clnk&cd=5&client=firefox-a"> link,</a>"</i><br /><br />What a nice Valentine present! OK maybe not. The real fun of course, besides finding out what is inside the box, is what will you call it! As <a href="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=84159">this thread shows,</a> there might be some confusion about this. Be that as it may, It looks like I will be buying some new devices come what, 6 months from now? Any guesses or predictions about how long before the new stuff hits the selves?

Don't count on it.

It's not that it can't be done. It's that the carriers are not spending the time or money to build ROMs for older devices. It's always a sore spot, but there's nothing we can do except complain to your carrier - and we all know how much they care about the customer.

Other than a few Pocket PC's and maybe an old Smartphone from way back, I can't recall any upgrades of this kind.

I'm hoping the upgrade policy will change as I wouldn't mind spending the money for a new operating system. With the release of newer phones such as the Dash and Blackjack, not having an upgrade policy will only anger and annoy customers. :(

And of course angry and annoyed customers has always been the carriers FIRST concern! :rotfl:
