Unlike some of the other Smartphone OS devices available, such as the Dash and the Q, which attempt to “be all and do all” without the benefit of a touch screen and the full Pocket PC operating system, this is one model that appears to be happy just being a smart phone."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/augusto-20061220-pinkStrTrk.JPG" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />You might remember us mentioning Judie's <a href="http://smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12804">unboxing of the pink Qtek 8500</a> back in November. Since that time, Judie has been using the device and put together a fantastic review of the handset. If pink aluminum is your thing, be sure to check out this <a href="http://www.geardiary.com/?p=1448">review</a>. ;)

Oh God it's Pink!

i was surprised to see the extent of how far HTC took the pink. even the RAZR doesn't come with a pink software cd and manual

That is depressing.

I'd like to re-iterate that mine (HTC StrTrk) is a masculine black, matte black.... no pink at all!!!

Oh - Judy - just a helpful hint you might find handy: Don't take your new phone sea-kayaking. (I am now on my 2nd one of these... and they ain't cheap!)

that is just a good hint all around ;)

Perhaps a better idea: take the phone kayaking, but be sure to put it in a good, waterproof container first. ;)

I promise to never take it kayaking - unless I have it inside an Aquapac.

This is why we shouldn't have pink phones. Look at what happens to the conversation! :P

And no pink theme on the Windows Mobile. I was looking forward to pink menus and pink soft key menus.

I'd be curious to know...

Have any of you showed the "pinkies" pictures to your wife or girlfriend? If so, what did they think?

You know that phone really isn't even pink. It is just that one piece of the shell. The rest is black. If you are going to make a pink phone at least be committed!

Good point Jerry, but...

The combination of black and pink is very fashionable, and using a "harder" pink like this - almost a fuschia - makes the 8500 less childish for a female over the age of 12 to own.

Okay - enough fashion talk...I can see your eyes all glazing over. :D

My wife's not that into Pink. My daughter on the other hand, would go nuts over this phone if I showed her the picture.

my girlfriend said it looks like they took a manly phone and slapped some pink metal on it and called it good.

in other words, she isn't a huge fan of it. ;)

nah, we love the fashion. more often then i would like to admit, you can find us discussing which colors we would like to see on phones like the 8500. so far hunter green is the winner by far. ;)

Green is my favorite color, so I am right with you on that one! :)

I would buy one in an instant. But it doesn't have to be green. Even a nice blue or dark red would get money out of my pocket quickly. 8)

Jerry, are you the kind of guy that wears a black shirt, black pants, black shoes, and black shades? And carries a black phone? This thread strongly suggests it.
