"Do you have a web connected phone or smartphone? Or are you using a Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Windows Mobile Smartphone, or even a Java-based phone? Microsoft is beta testing a mobile application based on Windows Live Search that will allow you to search for directions, get traffic information, directory data, all from your device."

Windows Live Search has finally found its way to Windows Mobile devices! This has been the kind of program that I have been waiting for as I am constantly searching the internet for restaurants and coffee shops while I am out and about. Also, its nice to finally have a program such as this that isn't a Java midlet! ;)

I installed it the other day and really like it a whole lot better than the Google search java midlet. It was a pleasant surprise and one of the top Smartphone applications in my book.

Wow this is great, installed over the air and it works great for directions or finding places to eat or other points of interest. Very slick, lets hope it remains free. Now I can see where GPS would really come in handy!

I agree with others - it s a great app. It's pretty small too. :)

I am happy to give up Pocket Streets 2007 for this app. I used it to day in Denver. Too bad the cell coverage at my house sucks so bad that I can't play with it while at home.

Anyway nice application. I'll give it a try with my GPS Monday.

Very cool. Very fast. Permanent fixture on my phone now!

It is a very cool app, although the loading of the maps is very slow compared to the J2ME Google "Mobile Maps" app on my MPX-220.

What would also be really cool if when searching for movie theaters, it will also show the movie names and times.

Also, does anyone with a GPS know if the "driving directions" automatically update as you drive?

Is the reason it accesses a very limited amount of data, that it's "beta"? It think there are only 25 theaters in NYC....

I think so. Notice the Pushpin choice under menu is not working...I hope I can add pushpins later. Can't wait till Live it goes live.

I posted some screen shots here (http://www.pocketup.com/reviews/software/live_search_mobile/index.htm).

I like having a win mobile app vs a java mid but lately i've been sms'ing GOOGL for quick info. Also, if you spell something wrong in Win Live it doesn't suggest the correct spelling. Texting GOOGL will give you what you're looking for.
